Chapter 332.
Tim could hardly believe what had just happened to him. In fact, the more he thought about it, the less he believed it. Maybe they had touched him without realising. Yes, they must have done. Did they not feel him responding? If it was accidental, what must they have thought of him? Were they disgusted? That would explain why they left so suddenly. Why did he have to be so sensitive? It wasn’t his fault, it was the latex. It made him hyper-responsive. Damn! He would have to call Yvette… If she didn’t reject his call.
“Are you coming in or what?”
“Miss! Lend me my phone. Quick!”
“Here…”
He dialled Yvette’s number.
“Hi. It’s me.”
“Hi! What’s up?”
“What happened just now…”
“What happened?”
“You know… When we were saying goodbye…”
“Yeah… And?”
“Didn’t you…notice anything?”
“Like what? Oh, you suddenly wanted to leave while we were having our cuddle. Why was that? Did you just remember something?”
Tim thought fast. They didn’t notice, then! They actually didn't!
“Oh… Oh, yeah, I just wanted to apologise. Yeah, I just remembered I’d promised to ring someone, and I didn’t have my phone. I know it was a bit rude.”
“Gosh Tim, it was nothing. Forget it. We can’t wait to see you next week. I’m gonna arrange it with your aunt tomorrow. It’ll be great!”
“Oh…yeah. It will be. I can’t wait either.”
“Well, gotta go…”
“Me too…”
“Bye then…”
“Bye Yvette…”
Relief flooded over him. They hadn't even noticed! He felt so stupid. Serena was right. He shouldn’t be so self-conscious.
“So, are you coming?”
“Sure…”
“I suppose you won’t wear your gloves…”
“No… Wait… Yes! Yes, why not?”
“Oh, good. They’ll look so nice. They match your hat and your tie and your shoes. Here, put them on.”
She fished them out of her bag.
“Cool…”
He pulled them on. It felt sexy wearing his gloves.
“Shall we go to our table?”
“Miss, I’m just going to the toilet… And then do you mind if I say hello to my friends?”
“Take your time. You know where I am.”
Serena walked away, smiling. She knew what he was up to. There were lots of new guests in the dining room, and he was eager to let everyone see his outfit, especially now he had decided to wear the gloves as well. Little show-off! She made her way to their table, which they were sharing with Imogen and Joshua, on the far side of the ballroom. From there they’d have a good view of developments.
Tim hurried to the bathroom. It was empty. All he wanted to do was check himself in the mirror. After a couple of poses he was satisfied.
“I should have worn my gloves from the beginning,” he murmured. “They look super-smart with this white shirt. Never mind. I look cool, all right. Okay. Let’s go.”
And with a smug grin he pushed open the door and headed for the entrance to the dining-room.
