The tall blonde woman looked at Percy's stepmother, smiled, held out her hand to shake Stephanie's hand. "Ahh, Ms. Anderson!" the blonde woman addressed Stephanie Anderson. "Good morning, Nancy," Percy's stepmother responded, shaking hands with Nancy Gilbert, Proprietress of RUFFLED WHITE LACE & PINK SATIN BOWS BRIDALS AND PARTY DRESSES Salon. "I cannot wait to try on my gown! After several fittings, I just KNOW this will be the perfect fitting!" Percy's stepmother said excitedly. "My dear MS. Anderson, the three starched net petticoats arrived just yesterday and I must say they are exquisite! Quite full...and swishy! Your ballgown will now have the bouffant fullness you were demanding! I do think you will be happy with the flare of your satin gown," gushed Ms. Gilbert. Percy clearly was uneasy with the girltalk among these two imposing but beautiful women. And then Ms. Gilbert looked down at Percy, somewhat condescendingly, and asked him, "And who are you, little one?" Before Percy could answer, his Stepmother replied, "Ms. Nancy Gilbert, this is my darling little nephew, Percy. He simply insisted on coming with me this morning!" She continued to hold a firm grip on Percy's little hand. Ms. Gilbert looked down at Percy again, "How nice, little Percy! I do not often get many little boys brave enough to journey into my salon...at least voluntarily," Ms. Gilbert laughed. Percy was old enough to grasp, albeit somewhat, the last part of Ms. Gilbert's response. Percy's stepmother, meanwhile, laughed gaily at Ms. Gilbert's remark. Percy's face reddened even more, though, and Ms. Gilbert, sensing his uneasiness, continued, "I have a real appreciation for those rare little boys who are brave enough to accompany their Mommies to try on wedding dresses." Ms. Gilbert carefully watched Percy's reaction to her comments. And Percy's little face grew redder. Finally, Percy offered up the less-than-convincing remark that "I really didn't want to come here at all this morning. Stepmother made me come. Nothing in here interests me at all. These are girls' clothes!!" Ms. Gilbert smiled at Percy and simply said, "Perhaps we can change your mind, little Percy." And then the beautiful blonded winked at little Percy and his stepmother. "The fitting area for your dress, Ms. Anderson, is over there," she pointed to the circular area where the sofas had been arranged...surrounded by hundreds of those frilly little party dresses thay had passed through the front of the salon on their way to meet Ms. Gilbert. A white elevated platform , something Percy had failed to notice before, was in the middle of this viewing area, as were several long white mirrors. As they made their way back to the viewing area, Ms. Gilbert ushered Percy's stepmother to a fitting room on one of the sides of the expansive salon, and Percy was directed to take a seat on one of the large white cushioned sofas...surrounded by the frilly party dresses...most every frilly, dainty dress, at least one of each style, likely...no, definitely, he frightfully and quickly surmised...in HIS size!!!...
